Welcome to the new home of the Orchid Conservatory!
Orchids are virtually un-matched either in range of expression or delicacy of nuance and the Orchid Conservatory has many photographs of them. All photographs are original except for a few contributed by visitors here and credit is given where it applies.
This is an Audience Participation site as you will see that visitors to the site have contributed information about the orchids to help identify them or share something interesting about them. You will always be credited by name or remain anonymous, as you wish.
You are welcome to copy the orchid pictures if you like and you can do that by dragging them to your desktop. If you use them elsewhere, please provide attribution and a link back to the Silas Scarborough Orchid Conservatory.
Whether you're looking for Cattleya (corsage) orchids, Phalaenopsis orchids, or a different orchid from over a dozen genera, you will likely find at least one specimen here. Click the Index by Genera tab to find orchids by name. Popular orchid genera are represented such as Cattleya, Cypripedium, Dendrobium, Epidendrum, Phalaenopsis, Oncidium, and many others.
The Orchid Conservatory has been online at My Duck Soup since 1995 and hopefully it will last at least that many years longer now that it's re-located to Google.
Please update your bookmarks as all future updates will be here and the original version on My Duck Soup will be phased out. Thanks very much for your encouragement over all those years and this migration has been to keep the Orchid Conservatory alive for all of us. It's all in the spirit of sharing that Krohn Conservatory has been showing us for much longer than I've been doing it. Thank you!
Alan Fraser / Silas Scarborough
The Orchid Conservatory was on My Duck Soup but has been moved here to make it easier for you to use and to present better.
Almost all of the photographs are original (some were contributed) and were shot at the Krohn Conservatory in Cincinnati.
